Thoreau College Capstone Presentation
From the summer of 2025 to 2026, I was the Artist-in-Residence at Thoreau College. Thoreau College is a microcollege in located in the driftless region of Southwest Wisconsin devoted to education of the whole person - their 5 pillars of education include Academics, Community, Nature, Labor, and Art. In addition to learning a vast assortment of skills related to farm and livestock work, ecological literacy, and folk craft, I taught courses to the students and larger community on performance, specifically related to the Suzuki Method and Six Viewpoints trainings. The project of this residency has been to develop a performance pedagogy, exploring the questions: what does it mean to perform and how do we practice performing? At the end of April, I gave my capstone presentation, speaking about and demonstrating what I had been working on in my time at Thoreau. In this document, you will find the transcript for the presentation, as well as links to videos to watch it.
